Hexagon Metrology celebrates a winning Red Bull Racing Innovation Partnership

14 December 2010

Red Bull Racing are on the top of the world, Hexagon Metrology is proud to have helped them there.

The 2010 Formula One World Championship has seen a thrilling season and for Red Bull Racing the culmination of a few years hard work has seen their meteoric rise to the top of both the Constructors and Drivers championships. Hexagon Metrology has been working with Red Bull Technology for a number of years as one of Red Bull Racing’s Innovation Partners.

Winning a Formula One race usually involves the difference between a few thousandths of a second, in quality terms we turn this into a few microns.  As part of the Innovation Partnership Hexagon Metrology has provided Red Bull Technology, based in Milton Keynes, will several industry leading metrology systems including DEA GLOBAL CMMs, ROMER portable measuring arms and several Leica Absolute Trackers with Leica T-Probe systems.

Chris Charnley, Quality Manager at Red Bull Technology states: “The Leica Absolute Tracker is a brilliant all-purpose tool and without doubt one of our best investments. The speed, accuracy, portability and reliability inspire the team. The Leica Absolute Tracker has played an important role in our many successes.”

The partnership is not just about providing products, if anything it is more about the Customer Service relationship between Hexagon Metrology and Red Bull Technology staff.  If the Formula One Team’s metrology engineers have to carry out a particularly difficult measurement, Hexagon Metrology technical service staff are there offering moral and practical support – if necessary at a moment’s notice. Chris Charnley: “That’s partnership. Our contacts at Hexagon Metrology are fully integrated into our team.”

As a proud Innovation Partner, Hexagon Metrology would like to thank Red Bull Technology for their trust and the excellent cooperation so far. Hexagon Metrology is looking forward to the continuation of this important partnership and the future challenges around the corner in the 2011 season.
